Olympics opportunities as BP increases grad intake by 50%
6th February 2012
Oil giant BP will take on 244 graduates in 2012, an increase of 50% on its previous recruitment drive.
The firm will also offer 100 graduate recruits an opportunity to work with the London 2012 Organising Committee (LOCOG) from June before starting work with the firm in September.
Graduates on these secondments will be trained by BP before the placements start, and will then receive an “internship salary”, accommodation and transport costs from the company.
Emma Judge, Head of UK graduate recruitment, BP said: “BP is hiring more bright young minds than ever before and I’m sure the UK’s young science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM) community will be pleased to hear we are ramping up our recruitment again this year.”
Universities and science minister David Willetts calls the announcement “particularly welcome news for graduates and a reassuring sign that the recruitment market is improving thanks to companies such as BP.”
